Design Support & Training
In addition to Design Review, MADE can provide other forms of design support including training.
MADE can organise workshops set up specifically for clients who are looking for advice, comment or just a critical friend in the development of their schemes prior to submission for planning permission. The location, length and format of these workshops can be tailored to suit the needs of the client and experts form MADE’s Design Panel selected for their expert knowledge in the design aspects being considered.
Officer and Member Training
MADE has significant experience in providing training sessions in design for officers and members of local authorities in the West Midlands. The content and format are developed in discussion with the client authority and can cover a wide range of topics from strategic planning, policy making, master planning to more detailed issues around town centre, housing layouts and public realm design.
Building for Life 12
MADE can provide training on the principles and application of BfL12. This Government supported toolkit has been developed to assist local planning authorities, particularly those in Development Management, to assess the quality and sustainability of housing layouts coming through the planning process. These interactive sessions cover both the general principles of good housing design but also their application using recent or proposed schemes in the area.
