Sheriffs Gate, Worcester
A large-scale regeneration scheme located to the south of Worcester Shrub Hill station, comprising of mixed residential and commercial usage centred upon a central civic space.
The Sheriff Street Urban Regeneration Scheme aimed to regenerate an area on the southern boundary of Worcester Shrub Hill station, and was subjected to Design Review at MADE in January 2013. The ambitious mixed-use scheme was initially criticised by the panel, owing to its domineering size in relation to the relatively small-scale nature of Worcester. The panel suggested the reconfiguration of the development, in order to produce a scale appropriate to its surroundings. The fragmentation of the planned central civic space into smaller, more intimate spaces was recommended. In addition, the panel suggested a rethink of the pedestrian access to the development under the railway, in order to provide a better quality of environment for pedestrians.Click here to see full report
