M5 Mile Artist Commission
MADE are looking for 5 Birmingham and Black Country Artists for a series commissions to enliven a space under the M5 motorway in Sandwell.
The M5 mile is a concept MADE developed as part of our vision for a Black Country Garden City. This is a section of land, under the raised section of the M5 motorway between junctions 1 and 2. At present this strip of land is ignored, neglected, unused.
In our garden city proposal we envisaged the M5 Mile could be an ‘edgy canal-side happening of shops, cafes and bars in shipping containers, performance areas, boat trips, skate-parks and other attractions, in the unique and stunning canal-side environment under the motorway’
This commission, supported by Creative Black Country, is inspired by that vision. We are not however looking for artists to create this but instead use their talents to enliven and transform that space for a single day.
DUE TO A DELAY IN THIS BEING ADVERTISED BY ARTS JOBS AND SOME ISSUES WITH THE MADE EMAIL SERVER THE DEADLINE FOR APPLICATIONS HAS BEEN EXTENDED TO MIDNIGHT WEDNESDAY 22ND JUNE.
The one day take-over event will STILL be on 16th July 2016.
