MADE expert panel member Emma Larkinson has been supporting The Crown Estate to commission a new art work for the heart of Worcester.
Our joint aim was to create a new landmark to contribute to placemaking in the city. We recruited artist Kathryn Hodgkinson who is known for her ability to build a sense of place in her work.
Confluence is positioned on a prominent city-centre building where several streets meet, with people crossing paths with each other. It features a gathering of birds, both common and exotic in recognition of the designs created by Royal Worcester Porcelain, with a sky mirror to reflect the many historic buildings in Broad Street and CrownGate Shopping Centre.
MADE is supporting public art in Worcester through our enabling work to review and update the City Council’s vision
